Team Spotlight: Peter Gonzalez

Today we get insight from one of our design consultants, Peter Gonzalez, on some of his personal favorites in decor as well as his thought on the industry. Read below to see what he thinks!

1. How long have you worked with decorating or home improvement?

I've been working in the industry for about 9 or 10 months.

2. What’s your favorite window treatment? And why?

Without a doubt, roller shades. They are versatile and can be the most cost-effective window treatment we offer. There are so many different options from light filtering to room darkening and endless color options.

3. What’s your favorite decor style? And why?

Personally, I like the cabin look. The woods and textures feel homey but I would have it very modernized with everything possible smart home enabled.

4. What’s your go-to color/fabric when looking to add something new to a room?

My go-to color is any of the greys. Honestly, I'm not sure why but for as long as I can remember for any personal or home accessories I've always gravitated towards the greys. Maybe it's because the original Batman suit was grey and I've loved Batman since I was a kid.

5. What is your favorite part of the job?

I enjoy talking to clients. I like hearing their stories about where they came from and how things have changed. It sets the whole day up to be great when my clients are comfortable and open up to me with stories about their past.

6. Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

At work. No two days are the same so there is always something new to learn.

7. How do you find the right product for your customer?

Asking a lot of questions. I look at what they currently have and listen to what it is they want the product to do. Their responses when we go over the options makes it easier to narrow down what will fit their needs and wants better.

8. What direction do you think the industry is heading?

I'm going with roller shades. More clients are asking for roller shades not just in their lanais but also in their homes. They are sleek and you can get some shades to go over 144" to cover the larger sliders without having the stacking of traditional verticals.

9. What was the most challenging job you’ve worked on so far?

So far there hasn't been one particular job. However, making the connection between what the customer wants and what the manufacturer will allow us to order can make it a little difficult at times. Fortunately, we work with a few different companies locally that help us find the best way to provide our clients with the look they want without losing the quality of the product.
