Get To Know Local Interior Designer Tiffany Whitley

Tell us about yourself, how did you start Humble Abode Interiors? What areas do you service, etc?

Growing up, my family moved a lot, and I always loved when we were moving into a house because that meant I would get to set up my room differently, fresh paint, and create another “new” space. I didn’t realize that this was a gift that God gave me until He began to show me through the recent renovation of the home my husband and I bought.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with some very talented interior designers, and I have helped friends and family create spaces that felt like home to them. They all encouraged me and that’s how Humble Abode Interiors started. To help sharpen my gifts, I completed the Interior Design Program at the New York Institute of Art and Design and currently studying for the RIDQC Exam through the Designers Society of America.

I service mainly the central Lake County area, from The Villages to Sorrento.

What design elements do you think help elevate the home and keep it personal?

I think that paint, texture, and lighting play an important key in elevating a space! You’ll be surprised how your sofa can take on new life with some fresh new throw pillows, or how the picture or art that you once loved takes on a new attitude against a new paint color.

Elevating a space doesn’t have to cost a lot! Work with the things you love, not with what trending.

What has been your favorite project to work on?

Hmmm that’s tough... each one becomes my favorite for different reasons!

What advice do you have for people who are looking for help with their home style?

The best advice I can share is- don’t overthink it! I don’t think a home style needs a title, in boxes you in too much! Stick with what speaks to you. Pay attention to how you feel when you see a certain color, wall art, or picture in a magazine. Design is a lot about feeling…that’s what turns a house into a humble abode, a space specially made for you.
